how common are un-copper coated zinc planchets? I have 2 of each T1 blank and a T2 planchet. They are just one of those things you don't see to often.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Both the Type 1 (no rim) and Type 2 (upset rim) zinc planchets (uncoated with copper)
Trend in ETCM for $3 each......

They are fairly common - about 10-12 years ago I bought a group of over 5,000 pieces
at the FUN show from someone who got them from the manufacturer who punched them
    out for the U.S. Mint.

What IS very rare is a Copper-Plated Type 1 zinc planchet............

    Hope this helps a bit.......
