I bought a MS-65 1970-D Kennedy half yesterday

and I know that I paid too much for it ($75.00), but I dont care, I like the coin.

Have you ever knowingly overpaid for a coin?

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

$75.00 is in the range of market price. This coin has become more difficult to make at PCGS in the past
two years. Considering the number of 1970 mint sets a submitter must search and the invariable
losers (i.e. MS-64 or less) that accompany the return submissions, $75 seems very fair for the finished
product that pleases the new owner.

Frequently. For example, I paid nearly $100 for an MS65CAM 1967 SMS Kennedy. Market value is about $25 to $30.

I paid $900 dollars for an AU-53 1832 half dime. Greysheet tells me I was getting ripped off when I topped $250.

Gem '70-D halfs never were extremely easy and have gotten decidedly tough in the
last few years. Even if you paid too much it should be OK in the long run.

    $75 is OK now really.

    Hey Joeyuk:

I feel your pain. Been there, done that.......several times.
I have boxes & boxes of losers. Sometimes PCGS throws in a token winner to take the edge off the
sting. In such cases one is lucky just to recoup fees. How's it feel to work for free or worse?

I like to think I know what I'm doing.

Overpay ??? It is a really rare day when I see a coin I really want and gotta have and it isn't priced in the stratosphere. The reason is---- the seller knows its a really nice coin and they probably payed a premium when they got it so.....BAM - You are gonna pay too. And guess what--- when you sell it.............
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • In my case the roll of '70-D's was free so even the ms63's paid for themselvs, barely.
Sad part is I have a PCGS MS66 example to compare side by side and felt the coins
submitted were equals. I hope my 66 isn't a dog. image
