Question about Canadian Checks

I recently got a notice from my bank telling me that the fee to process Canadian checks and money orders, with 8 digit routing numbers, was going up to $5.00. If the routing number is 9 digits, there is no charge. Is my bank the only one that dose this?

    I have never had a problem with a Canadian checks as long as they are in USD. If they are in CDN than it takes 45 days to clear!
    It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
