My New 1971 Topps Tom Seaver, I Am Stoked!

I just picked this beauty up at a fantastic price:

1971 Topps PSA 8 Tom Seaver

I can't believe the price I paid for two reasons: (1) this card typically sells in the $140 to $160 range; and (2) it is the most (gulp, don't tell the wife) I have ever paid for a 71 Topps baseball card, and for that matter, any single baseball card. It is a beauty and to top it off, it increased my set registry rating by a whole .01 point! image

You know, I noticed more than once that some of 4SC cards are going for less than similiar cards ending near the same time. Is there enough people out there not buying their auctions to cause this or am I just imagining things?

Looks like a very nicely centered example and a great deal, certainly deserving of an 8.

My bigger question --- will you tell your wife?

    Yes...you did good! Great card!

There are lots of CA buyers, who eschew paying the CA sales tax, so that creates less demand for 4SC auctions from the git-go.

I live in CA, though, and I find their quality and customer service well worth that 8.25% premium.

I live in Cali too; the Seaver auction only said sales tax if in MA, so I guess I am doubly lucky!

As fate would have it, my luck continues to roll today. I just won this Killebrew at a Killer price:

    PSA 8 1971 Topps Killebrew

This card always seems to go over 60 bucks, usually around 70 to 80. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket today? I have not had what I consider great deals on eBay in quite sometime!
