ZAR grading help

What would this 1892 1 shilling grade?

  • I'm not sure that the coin is best represented by the photograph as the fields look very nice ( ie no scratches ) and the rim is in good order.

    However there seems to be a LOT of wear on the hair and the beard, the luster also seems to be removed.

    Also there is no photo of the reverse.

    I'd grade it as Fine keeping in mind the points above.

    Perhaps a few more photos would help.

    I'll try and make some better scans.

    My scanner does mute the luster a lot.

    VF-20 for wear.

    I'd grade it a fine, or maybe even a VG. There's a lot of wear there.

    Tough without seeing the reverse. I would guess strong F or weak VF.
