How did you find this thread barndog? It's a year old. Have taken to raising the dead?

I had some recent inspiration, so I just did a search for a nice one with a picture. I raise otherwise dead threads from time to time, most of which are very worthy.

I love that tarnish on Rocco's 1824. And two ladies for the price of one.
Although this 1814 skinned her face I am still partial to my two Ms Liberties. I figure she was just running interference for the other one. A noble sacrafice.

<< <i>Well, I made the mistake in going to the local coin shop and I saw and bit on a 1925 half today (my first and maybe my last if the wife finds out) I also noticed doubling on the nose lips and chin. Is this more commonly from machine doubling or DD's on these early busties ? >>
Congrats on the purchase
The best way to describe these doubled profiles is to liken them to machine or strike doubling. Not true hub doubled coins. One way to understand this is the issue is with the one coin in question, not the die itself (which would be the case of a hub doubled coin), if it were a doubled die, it would repeat on each coin made from that die.
Great question because these coins were made with completely different methods than today's coins.
