Not sure about greysheet but if you were to list it on Ebay you'd get between 250 - 350 Euro imo ( depending on the day ).
Catalogues are normally way short of ZAR guide prices, I am not sure why that is but any nice quality ZAR coin usually sells for way more then the catalogue guide prices.
I just want to mention that it's the 1892 coins which have varieties of Double Shaft coins. This was a mistake by the German mint. There was a medal made for the Dutch a few years earlier which had a double shafted voortrekker wagon on it. It is presumed that the Germans used this medal for the die characteristics.
There was appearent uproar in the ZAR when these coins came to the fore as the traditional voortrekker wagon only had a single shaft.
Also on the obverse of the Double Shafted Pond on Krugers bust are the letters OS - the initials of the designer ( Otto Schultz ) however OS in Afrikaans means OX ( as in the animal ) so both the public and Kruger himself were not too happy with being labelled as an OX.
The Double shaft coins are undoubtedly amongst the most valuable ZAR coins, however the 1892 Single Shaft Pond is considered very rare and there is currently such a Pond on Ebay for over 3K Euro ( which has nothing to do with me ).
I will post, but thanks for the opinion, yours was the one I was looking for !
not terrible for a 200 (USD) purchase. it's a neat coin !
