British North Borneo 1891H Proof Cent. Anyone got one?

Anyone got one of these? I'm wondering if there is a die chip in the lower loop of the 8 in the date on the proofs. A couple of eBay buyers have been asking about the one we have listed and wondering how we know it's a proof. (obvious answer: "Because it looks like a proof.") Both have asked for larger images so I'm assuming they are looking for a die diagnostic. The only thing I see is a big chip in the lower loop of the 8. Anyone got a circ or proof strike with this diagnostic?

Thanks for any confirmation, one way or the other.

I checked the Heritage archives for this coin and the one that they have appears to have this die chip in the "8". Hope this helps.3Mark

Ah, so it does. Now the question remains, were there business strikes made from the proof dies.

Anyone got a circ example?
