Before resorting to Ebay, I offer here a 1936-D Buffalo, PCGS MS-66. I bought this coin raw, for my type set, 15 years ago at a coin show in Hartford's Polish home. Three years ago, I sent it off to PCGS during one of their promotions (four coins graded in direct submission and an auction catalog for $25 if I remember correctly). The serial number on the slab is 3978.66/21609863.
This coin has light and lustrous gold/champagne toning on both sides, strongest at the rims, and fading uniformly and gradually to blast nickel in the centers. There is neither spotting nor blotchiness; the patina is seamless and delicate, yet clearly evident in both incandescent light and sunlight. The coin has extremely clean surfaces, a strong strike, that deep medallic look of this series, and great eye appeal to me ... which is why I bought it and why I chose it for PCGS grading. I believe it is a high-end 66, by which I mean that it could reasonably reside in a 67 holder, but not a 65 holder.
The photos (linked below) were taken with a Nikon 5400 in direct sunlight, which washes out the toning somewhat. Expect a bit more than the pictures show, over a larger area of the coin than indicated. Any scratches you see are on the holder or are optical artifacts of digital photography. They are not the coin.
I am asking $200. plus $6.00 for priority mail and insurance. There is a 5-day no questions asked return, as long as coin and slab are in the same condition as sent. I accept personal checks and postal money orders. (Checks must clear, please.) I wish I could take Paypal, but there are just too many horror stories.
I have lurked on the forum for quite some time, and am an infrequent poster. On Ebay, I am davidwm.
Please pm me with questions. I check in once or twice a day.
Thanks, and good night.
