Recoloring of 71

Need some help on some 71 bb I just picked up. The boarders are really nice almost to nice. What's the best way to tell if they have been touched up?

Thanks

I believe with a black light.

PM "marz" on this board, he sells a hand held blacklight that will detect it.

  • easy way....get in strong light..like close to a desk lamp....tilt the card back and fourth while looking at the edges...

Most people touch these up with black sharpies..they will leave almost a purple color where they were touched!!
Also..look at the side edges of the cards and the corners...most touch up leaves bleed through on the edge of the card. The black marker will pull down on the side of the card where it was cut!!
So if the edges have and black spots where it should be clean cut cardboard...then you've been duped!!

There are some really nice 71's floating around though......all from a great source!!
Maybe if we knew where you got them....that might help...as alot of us know various dealers all over the country...

When all else fails....there's the black light...I mean you could take your cards to the fish department at Walmart..they have black lights there....but you might look silly!! lol

Look at the card from the side, it will almost always bleed thru
