<< <i>I hope he hits 714 and 715 just so ESPN and everyone else drops the subject. >>
Yeah, I mean what is the drama about it all really? It is not a question of if but when and when it is over we will
say "is that all there is to it?".
Is the game on ESPN tonight?
The game has been delay!
Mary -- good to see you here. But who cares about Barry going to 714? ..............Aaron holds the record.
Thanks,
BUT, I would like to see it!
<< <i>I really am interested to see what the media does when Barry goes 715. You know??????? >>
It will make a headline on the news channels and in the newspapers and then probably a few editorials that it is tainted and
meaningless. Beyond that I don't think a whole lot.
If you could trade Barry Bonds to any other team tomorrow, which team would it be and why?

hmmm most people would say that Neal is a decent guy and that many of those posts were in reply to people asking questions. What does it matter that he has 4000 posts (over 5 years mind you) which equate to 800 per yr or a lil more then 2 a day. Im missing something here as I know Neal and I thought I knew you perk.

My "taking you to school" comment was a direct result of being called an ignorant baseball fan.
Bonds Ties the Babe With Home Run No. 714

BFD. Hope he gets 715 tomorrow, so we can rid ourselves of Bondscenter™ on ESPN.
Tonight, they do a pitch by pitch recount of where in the strike zone Bonds has hit his home runs this season...ate up a good 10 minutes dissecting every possible angle, then of course did the obligatory video recap of his HR career...1st HR, 100th, 200nd, etc. etc. It was disgusting.

ESPN has a habit of being overbearing and annoying on certain sports topics. Bonds certainly fits the bill.
Also, is anyone as sick as I am of that stupid TV commerical where the guy is outside of ESPN headquarters hyping that
ESPN phone with all the scores, stats etc.?
Michigan I agree that commercial is silly.
it was funny maybe the first 2 times I saw it. I like the one with the alligater guy muself.
Steve
That phone, when it first came out, was $300. ESPN has spent approximately $30 million so far this year in advertising it, and they are losing their asses on it.
The phone currently is $100 with a $50 gift card. They have warehouses full of these phones, and they are just going to rot.
A tech website I read frequently asked anyone who had one to write them to explain how well it works. When they got zero responses, they asked anyone who knew someone who had to write in - they got one email, from someone who know someone at ESPN. The guy said the phone absolutely sucked.

Looks like ESPN really miscalculated with that phone, they were obviously hoping for the really hard core sports fanatics who just can't
live without finding out the latest stats or scores with their favorite team.
Problem is that those people are not that common to begin with and much of the information is probably available on the internet if
you know where to look, the real fanatics would know where to look so why do they need a phone for that purpose?
Will probably go down as one of the all time marketing blunders, along with such things as "New Coke" etc.
<< <i>Here's how bad ESPN has gotten in regards to this whole deal.

sounds like YOU watched it (or at least had the channel on the whole time) so ESPN will get your viewership counted in their ratings (along with everyone else who watched) and think, hey, our viewers LOVE this stuff so we will do MORE BONDS STUFF!
there is only ONE reason they show car chases in LA on live tv.... because people watch! and ratings equal dollars!

Agreed. ESPN tend to run things into the ground.
I don't know if other markets get it, but they constantly play this Pepsi commerical with Jimmy Fallon during Red Sox games. I now hate Pepsi with a passion, and Jimmy Fallon reminds me of the terrible "Fever Pitch" movie.
