Unconfirmed address

Hey guys, I know you will know the best way to deal with this.
I sold an item for 2500 dollars on ebay... That is quite a bit of money to me. The buyer paid via paypal and have an "unconfirmed address."

Am I at risk at all here? If I use signature confirmation will I be fine?

You probably are not under PayPals "Seller Protection Program", but they only would have covered you for a $1500 anyways. You should verify your buyers address verbally and if you see any red flags proceed cautiously. Showing the listing would be helpful.
  • you need to send the buyer a message and request the shipping address. Then keep the email for your records....even then i would send it deliv conf and maybe insured to keep yourself covered...i personally might even send it ups insured...

I would not accept it and would deny or refund the payment.

Email the buyer and tell him/her that you cannot accept it because they are UNconfirmed.

Paypal offers you NO protection if you accept it.

Ask for another method of payment.

I've accepted it for MUCH MUCH less a couple of times with no problems but I would never accept that much.

Tell the buyer to confirm now and then you will ship. It will only take a couple of business days for them to confirm and then you will be better protected.

An unconfirmed addy will not offer you any seller protection at all.

There is absolutely no reason to not have a confirmed address.

As was mentioned - tell the buyer to confirm it, and then send the merchandise!!!

  • It only take a second to confirm an address with their credit card.

DO NOT SHIP to an unconfirmed address!!!

You will get screwed!!! I did and it only takes one time.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS...... It doesn't matter if you even use tracking. You will lose on this one! I promise you!

or tell them you will only take a Cashier's Check!

Let us know how it works out!

    Thanks,

  • The guy has great feedback and no problems at all...

also, say i ship the item to him and it is signed for at the address he provided... then he says he didnt get it, would paypal actually side with him??

that makes no sense to me!!

A Cashiers check tells you the person had the money when the check was issued. But the purchaser can stop payment on on a Cashiers check after sending it.

are you not reading the replies here that answer your question? Reason I ask is that you again ask basically the same thing.

If you choose to take the payment and mail the item and the buyer chooses to screw you. You are screwed. Paypal will not do a THING for you PERIOD.

I think it was PA who confused the situation by not being clear

It will be a lot more difficult to resolve, but if a person signs for the item and claims they did not receive the item, that would constitute postal fraud which is a federal crime.
  • If you withdraw payments immediately (always keeping a $0 balance in paypal), I guess the harm of someone pulling shenanigans would be paypal closing your account... but at least you wouldn't lose any money.

  • JJ,

You are talking about alot of money here. If this guy wants it that bad have him confirm his address on paypal or have him send you a cashier's check or money order. If he sends you a cashier's check, once you get it call the bank to confirm it is legit. The bank will honor it then. Been there and done it.

    I SAY AGAIN!!!

DO NOT SHIP TO AN UNCONFIRMED PAYPAL ADDRESS - No matter what his feedback reads!

  • Long Story . Short........

This happen to us last year!

    Sold to a buyer with 430 P-FBs! 100%

    Item cost 300.00

We shipped to unconfirmed address - we used signature confirmation and insurance, which shows someone signed for it! (I know... You don't need to use both, but I like knowing the buyer can pull the signture confirmation up on the website!)

Buyer then reported to Paypal/ebay someone hacked into his account and he received both item and our money!

He did this to about 30-40 sellers, before ebay kicked him off.

    etc...
