By the time I get done.....

By the time I get done updating my ebay page I may not have too many more sellers left to buy from. I have already blocked several for poor service, scamming, shipping issues, and so on. Besides that I have counted over 20 sellers who I have bought cards from, was pleased and left positive feedback to that effect, only to get nothing in return. It is bad enough for a seller to hold feedback hostage and wait till the buyer leaves it ( I know this has been discussed, and nothing anyone says will ever change my mind, it is just wrong and poor business practice not to leave feedback when buyer pays ) but its entirely unexcusable for a seller not to leave positive feedback for a buyer who not only completed their end of the deal, but went ahead and left positive feedback for them. Is it that difficult for them to get their lazy a$$es into gear and do the right thing ? From now on if I leave feedback and the seller doesnt reciprocate within a fair amount of time they will permanantly lose my business.

  • I know what you mean Bri. Since I really started using eBay for getting cards(basically the last month, month and a half) I've not recieved cards I've paid for, recieved cards in white non padded envelopes(4.00 shipping fee to go along with that one), 1 cracked PSA graded rookie(which I only recieved after threatening the seller with negs and spreading his ID around). But hey, whats a guy to do.

If your an established ebayer, who cares if the seller leaves you feedback? What is the difference between 5212 positives and 5213 positives? If you got the product and were satisfied, and they did not leave you feedback, that should be no reason to not buy from them again. I dont know who has left me feedback and who hasn't as I dont even check my feedback anymore.

I care, thats who. It is common courteousy that you extend to another person you are dealing with in business. If someone doesnt have the respect to achknowledge the transaction then they dont deserve the future business. It doesnt take much to show someone you care about their hard earned money. First off, they should leave it once you pay and complete your end of the deal, its bad enough with sellers who dont, but to just blow the person off and not bother shows no regard and definately, at least in my eyes are deadbeat sellers who wont get a dime from me again.

I don't think not leaving feedback qualifies them as a 'deadbeat seller', but to each his own.

  • I agree with you 100% bri. Once a seller receives a prompt payment he should leave feedback. The buyer has completed his part of the deal. The rest of the responsibility lies with the seller. It's the sellers that scam you on shipping, package their items poorly, send you overgraded stuff, take weeks and weeks to ship your item ect. that don't want to leave feedback when they receive payment in case you neg them for their inadequacies. If they were a responsible seller then there would be no need to hold back feedback just for the sole purpose of a retaliatory negative feedback because you weren't satisfied with their item or service.
Ahmanfan, how did you get to be an established ebayer? From people leaving you feedback. Just because your an established ebayer now doesn't mean you should neglect your responsibility to leave feedback. Like bri said it's common courtesy and good business.

I've only ever sold three items, got nice feedback from two of the guys, still a little ticked at the one that didn't bother.

But as far as seller feedback goes, for me, I don't really care, it just means less nagging from my snoopy ol lady image

I think some of you take Ebay way too seriously. Feedback? Who cares? My car mechanic can act like a total nimrod at times, but that doesn't mean I'm going dump him and go get prison sexed at the dealership. The Taco Bell staff at the restaraunt near by are some of the surliest people I've ever dealt with, yet I'm still in the drive thru about twice a week.

If your paying 50$ for card when a dealer who didn't leave you feeback has it for sale for 40 then IMO the joke's on you. Maybe a gold star from a seller is worth $10 to you, but I can think of other ways to spend that sawbuck.
  • Some people just have too much time on thier hands and sit and worry about the world!!
Let me give you my perspective as a full time dealer...store owner...Ebayer.....

Everyone gets feedback..some sooner..some later...depends on MY schedule!!
The whole....feedback as soon as payment is received..SHOULD be the rule...but not to buy from someoneif they don't....that's just plain petty!!

Back to the schedule....speaking only for myself....I open the product...sort the product....pull for grading...pull for sets....scan....list in turbo lister for Ebay....list for my own website...take care of customers...answer emails (30-60 a day depending on the day)....answer the phone....end the auctions...relist...do all the packing...go to the Post Office....and if there's time..actually sit and talk with the customers and work on some of my sets and wants/needs...

Now somewhere in there...IF I forget to leave someone feedback...well...I'll catch up on it within a week or two...
The people that wouldn't comeback because of timely feedback....that's their loss!! The more you buy from me..the better the deals get...plain and simple...

When others don't leave feedback in a timely fashion....think of all this...and think that they too may have full-time jobs and family that comes 1st also.....

It should be given right away..I agree....but honestly...if you're losing sleep over it...YOU'VE got way too much time on your hands....

    Wish I was that lucky(?)

Yeah I can see where it takes so much effort and time to leave a feedback for someone.

5STAT, how is that petty ? I too have family, a business, and many side projects, but I still manage to find 7 seconds for each person who chooses to spend their money on my auctions as opposed to someone elses. It is a sign of my appreciation to them for giving me their business to take that 7 seconds out of my busy life to acknowledge my appreciation. I respect everything you said about how you run your sales on ebay, but that doesnt mean everyone works the way you do. I have seen sellers with 5000 feedbacks received who have only left 7 or 8 hundred. Does that seem right to you ?

I am by no means losing sleep over this, it was just an observation I made, and it reflects the general lack of decency people have for each other today. We are all busy, we all have lives, but yet some find a few moments and some just couldnt give a $hit.

BTW, Boo....if my local mechanic screws up, I find another. There are choices out there, thats what America is about. Just because you dont want to find another place to get your chicken soft taco doesnt mean I cant. And if a seller has a card for $50 and one who didnt leave me feedback has it for $40, well, you can pass and wait till you find another for $40. Again, choices, we are allowed to make em.

It is funny to me how you both talk about me having too much free time, yet you managed to find free time to come on here, reply, and basically bash me for expressing an opinion.

  • Copy/paste can be done in about 2 seconds....BRI, I am 100% on your side, if people are too lazy to post feedback claiming they're too busy, that's just a sign of a lazy person....it's not that difficult to come up with 5 different pat feedbacks and randomly post them for your buyers.....

    ie

    Great buyer, prompt payment A++
Everything was great with this buyer, highly recommend
    Perfect transactions, many thanks
    Super fast payment, great eBayer
Another great buyer, thank you for your continued business

(Note, this whole post took less than 1 minute and didn't take much effort)

You ought to name these sellers who don't leave you feedback. Maybe if enough people blackball these sellers, I'll be able to pick up some nice merchandise at discounted prices because there will be less competition for the cards I want. image

I buy and sell all the time, and I always leave feedback for either the buyer or seller. I have left more feedback than I have recieved, but that's how it goes. I really don't like it when a seller emails me that they will leave feedback right after I do. That's not right. I've completed my end of the transaction, why should my feedback be held hostage? The only thing a seller can comment on is on how fast I paid, or didn't pay as the case may be.

As soon as I recieve payment, feedback is left. I think it is the right way to do buisness.
