Josh? Need help with Celtic Alexander

Seller described as Celtic (Danubian) but I have serious doubts...

Is it a normal Alexander Tet? -It appears to possibly be a Lifetime issue...

I have the coin in hand and it appears high quality silver.
The reverse Alexander legend isn't well done.
No mintmark visible. 16.41 gr Nice Color...

I think you're right, Jeff. I think it's a Tarsos Mint lifetime issue. The round and bubbly style of the obverse combined with the non-flowing double rowed mane of the lion's skin is very indicative of Tarsos style. The double lines in Zeus' tunic also fit with Tarsos style. The curved ALEXANDROU is also frequently seen in Tarsos tetradrachms (and may possibly be unique to Tarsos).

Unfortunately, the centering on the reverse is too poor to allow for full identification as there may have been some sort of symbol in the left field.

Thanks Josh, for the big help with the Mint.

I'm going to keep doing some research on Tarsos types...

    No problem.

I expect a ride in an F-14 in exchange for that very valuable information. image
