My Latest Wax Pack Rip-Yuck!

Well I ordered 15 packs of 1978/79 basketball from Steve at BBCEx and 12 packs of 1979/80 from Dave and Adams. Customer service was great from both places and the packs looked to be solid with no signs of tampering. The reason I did this was that I need a few Bucks cards to finish off my team sets in time for the set registry deadline. Well needless to say I got a total of about 4 or 5 cards that were good enough to be graded and none were Bucks cards. I realize it was a longshot but it was fun to rip a few old basketball packs. The typical issues of centering plus poor surface/printing problems held a lot of these back.

    bwf,
what are you needing on the 78's? i've got several 7 and 8's...no 9's.

sorry to hear about your rips? so out of 27 packs you received 5 gradeable.....omg image

    Thanks,

Thanks for the offer but I'm just interested in 9's. Yeah it was pretty ugly but that's the way it goes I guess. When it comes to those years I can't see submitting anything less than a 9 if you want to at least make back your grading fees.

i had so many 7 and 8s come back from my vending bust i'm starting a set in 8s if possible. you can buy them for less than grading fees most of the times.

    Thanks,

Late 70's basketball does not sell for much but I really had no choice when the cards I needed never come up for auction. Of course the day after I get these one of the cards I need for the 1978 set pops up on the bay! image

i just picked up some 77-78 packs from the bbcexchange. i am looking forward to busting them
  • When I was a kid basketball was my thing and from 1975/76 through 1981/82 I had a ton of cards. I'm sure those will be fun to open.
