100% Complete on my Don Drysdale Basic Set!

I know that it's not a huge deal (under 15 cards to complete), but I've got my Don Drysdale Basic Set at 100% image

Don Drysdale Basic Set -- All Scanned & Some Reading Material

Now, the upgrading. I've already upgraded the rookie from a 6 to a 7. If I can just find a '62 in 7 then I'm at all at least 7s and can start to work on 8s. Any Drysdale cards floating out there with my fellow CU Board members? Drop me a PM if you have any cards that I can upgrade to. image

I like Dandy Don. Doesn't Koufax have a face like a weasel faced ass though?
    Enjoy your collection!

  • Erik,

Although it is apparant that you're personally not attracted to Koufax's face, his accomplishments on the baseball diamond speak loudly. Many regard his 1962-1966 period as the greatest five-year era of domination ever for a major league pitcher.

He is very popular here too. Sandy Koufax is second only to Nolan Ryan in the number of sets for pitchers in the PSA Registry. Mickey Mantle leads all baseball players, pitchers or otherwise.

    Chris & all,

My koufax weasel-faced remark was a joke for the originating poster, based upon his Avatar of the office manager "David" from the BBC Version of The Office. It was a rather hilarious exchange of dialogue on one of the episodes.

Koufax is great! The remark was too inside for an open forum like this. Apologies.
    Enjoy your collection!

Yeah, but would you rather be a weasel faced ass or an ass faced weasel? LOL....great stuff from the original "Office"!

    Arny,
Congrats on the set! Vintage player sets are cool and Drysdale is a very worthy candidate.

Doh! I forgot about that Bill. Umm...I've got my youngest daughter's first birthday mini-bash going on now. So, I can't send you a response just yet. But, I'll drop you a note towards the end of next week (have a conference from Sunday to Wednesday which will take up a lot of my time).

Anyone out there with some Drysdale 8s or affordable 9s? image

That's great - nice set, great grades.

Any thoughts on trying to build the master set, with the Bells and Morrells?

I've been thinkin' about it. But, I'd like to sit at all 8s before I start to attack the other stuff.

I LOVE many of the other cards and have thought about it.

David, I'll take the '60 Drysdale in PSA 8 for the $95. I've already got the others in 8 already though. Do you happen to have a PSA 8 of either the '65 or '62?

I haven't tracked the 8s for his rookie lately. But, if I remember right....something around $700-800. I'm not sure if I'll be picking one of those up anytime soon. Unless, I sell all of my Koufax cards (all for sale here All PSA Koufax Cards For Sale! )

A lot of Don's cards feature him sporting that "Oh, yeah? What are ya gonna do about it?" look, but the '62 might just be the best of those.

Any of you guys who are Drysdale completists should pick up a copy of the October 1999 issue of GQ. In addition to a fabulous pictorial of Ashley Judd, there is a short piece, featuring a page size color photo of Big D walking off the field at Chavez Ravine, mobbed by teammates, just after finishing off the Yankees 1-0 in Game 3 of the '63 Series. It's a brilliant image, the kind usually found in Sports Illustrated or Sport retrospectives.
