Varieties in the Morgan Basic Circulation Set

Am I wrong to think that the three different 1878 P varities should not be in the Morgan Basic Circulation set?

I think there should just be 1, (any of the 3), to fit the bill for an 1878 P. No other year's varieties are included in this set.

Thoughts?

Your point is well taken. The 3 varieties look a little out of place there.

My guess is three are there because the numismatic community has widely recognized them as separate and distinct sub-types almost forevever.
