What material is this? I'm not finding much in the US but they have some on the Italian ebay with buy now around 29EUR in the condition this one is in. Here is what it looks like

I don't have my Krause handy, but I believe that it's Stainless Steel.

  • Thanks. I found a 1957 that said it was stainless steel and it had the same design.

It's stainless steel. Some of the earlier dates are scarce in high grades, especially uncirculated.

These coins have listed at pretty high prices for years. There were no buyers back
until recently but interest in all modern coins has been exploding recently so it's pos-
sible that Krause prices have some validity now. I used to trade the older ones at
five or ten percent of catalog in XF/ AU.

Be careful with these. They do not show wear very readily and it might take you a
little time to be able to spot it.

The 1963 is the first date that is common in unc and subsequent dates are more com-
mon. It will take me some time to get used to the idea that a 1965 might be worth 30
Euros. There just never used top be any demand so they all went begging for owners.
The oldest Krause doesn't list much of a premium for any of these.

  • Pics of my actual coin. From the bad pictures how does it look? I'll be getting a scanner eventually image

It looks unc but the roughness on the high points might be bad enough to get it graded XF.

  • The rosette on the costume is one of the better high points to judge. I believe the metal used was prone to weak strikes as well.
