RARE Napoleon ORIGINAL small GOLD medal,1810:Wedding

This little ORIGINAL GOLD medal was engraved by Andrieu &Galle in 1810 for Napoleon's wedding on April 2nd ,1810. It's an original GOLD strike . Such ( a very few!) medals were given to the people who assisted to the event.

Obv/ Busts of Napoleon and Marie-Louise right. Signed: Andrieu.F. under the busts. There is not any legend.

Rev/ NAPOLEON.EMP.ET ROI. Napoleon and Marie-Louise standing left, close to an autel. M.LOUISE d'AUTRICHE. The Emperor and the Empress are sharing their hands.

Reference: TNG.Nr. 6 p.84, plate XXXIX GOLD (TNG. "Trésor de Numismatique et de Glyptique, Collection de Médailles de l'Empire Français et de Napoléon") you'll find the plate and this medal as having a look at the pictures

    André Galle and Bertrand Andrieu were two of the most talented French medallists of the Napoleonic era. Andrieu apparently engraved his dies by hand, without the use of puncheons.

    To find such a medal (in gold, no less!) is a stunning acquisition. Congratulations!image
