I personally dont think it has the centering for a 10 and looks like it may have a few chipping issues as well, But a darn nice card, Could be a nice 9.

I personally think that card is trimmed. The black inserts on those and sgc and gia are all made to fit the card precisely. Here is the Rice:

Do you see how much room is on the left edge?

    Check out this Jordan:

No room on the sides of the card.

I might wait for it to come around again since the high bidder has only bid on the sellers auctions in the last month. Nice round numbers always too.............

Ha. Makes sense now. I don't think that bidder is the seller shilling, the seller told me he was listing for someone else.....must be the high bidder! That makes the comission a little more expensive.

That top edge on the Rice looks to have 2 significant chips right between the first two white stripes...doesn't it?

It is looking a little short left to right too. A little "wiggle" room isn't usually a concern, but that seems a bit much. However, I've heard many people say the old red label SCD was pretty good. So I would expect them to catch a trim job. I know that some 80's years do have some size variances as well, so the extra room that's in there may be common for the issue...I'm not an expert on those though.
  • At first glance I thought it looked trimmed too.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

    i agree with envoy98...

that would not be a 10 in a psa holder mainly due to chipping at the top.

    Thanks,

  • there's definitely some chipping so it wouldn't be a 10, but it's not trimmed. take a stack of any year of cards, put them on their sides together and tell me that all the cards are cut exactly the same left to right and top to bottom. those difference are all over and i'm sure inserts have to be built with +/- variances too so maybe it's a big insert and a slightly short left to right card, but it's not trimmed. i had a decent amount of cards graded by the old scd and talked to their graders. you don't identify trimming by measuring the card alone, when you actually inspect the edge of the card you can see the rotary or blade cutting pattern on them. being short or long is a red flag, but the real answer lies in inspecting the cut on the edge of the card and that's why a slight filing doesn't fool the graders that know what they are doing. sorry beckett.

That card would be unreal if it were not for the chipping on the top.

The bottom edge isn't that great either in my opinion

Chipping will not allow this card a 10.
