I'll bid $0.65 if you'll split the $12.00 shipping cost................

You should get that TP GAI certified.

It looks tampered with to me.

Probably would get about an 8.5, "guaranteed unopened".

  • Ebay must be trying to make their quarterly numbers.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Yep, 10 Cents regardless of your starting bid or reserve price. I always throw my high end items that I want to put a reserve on out on ebay during 10 cent day. On 10 cards that are $300-500 you save $48.00 just in listing fees. I'll probably throw a bunch of stuff up tonight with BIN/Best Offer.

Looks like 707 put up their entire inventory again. I wonder if they sell anything at 300% market value?
  • Nice roll! Is that "thru air dried" certified new ?
My focus, 1970 Topps Baseball Raw and Graded, pre 1989 PSA Hockey and 1933 INDIAN GUM ! Yikes!!

Help me out with something here. Currently, 707 has 21400 items listed. If I understand this 10 cent listing day, that's a cost of $2140 whether he sells a thing or not, correct? In the past, sellers like joesvintagesportscards have done the same thing. Let me be clear, I have nothing against these sellers, in fact I happen to like both of them. But I'm not understanding how they figure they can come out ahead, even if they sell some stuff at the inflated prices.

The other thing I've always wondered: If you don't sell something, don't you get to re-list for free (one time)? Why is it that all of the stuff that doesn't sell from 10 cent listing day isn't re-listed. Does the free re-listing not apply to 10 cent listing day?

you can relist and get fees back on .10 cent day if your item does not sell

IMO the extra clutter you see from these auctions pales in comparison to the millions of listings that go up every day which feature some crappy base card of a star player from the '80 or '90's, or a VG-EX common from the 50's-'70's, with a $.99 cent starting price and a $3 shipping charge. Honest to God, does ANYONE ever bid on these auctions? There are a bunch of searches that I would like to do, but I just don't bother because I need to filter through page after page after page of 1994 Pinnacle Barry Sanders cards.

What amazes me is that people just don't seem to learn their lesson this stuff. If you have a bunch of dollar cards that you want to sell then open and Ebay store. DON'T pay a $.25 cent insertion fee on a 1$ card that has less than a 10% chance of selling!! How hard is that to understand??
  • I often search with minimum price "floors" or items with at least 1 bid so I usually don't see those items boopotts, but I definitely agree with your sentiment.

I do that too, but I'm frequently searching past results and sometimes the filter doesn't work. Also, I usually like to know if a particular card DIDN'T sell, in which case I just have to deal with all the useless auction results...

When it comes to low dollar cards my feeling is that you either want to sell the card or you don't. If you don't really want to sell it then don't waste the time listing it. If you DO want to sell it then do everything you can to get it out of your basement. That usually means putting it in an Ebay store, where it can collect dust until Doomsday. If, however, you just have to list it then start it at seventy five cents with no shipping cost. What do you have to lose? A worthless card? If it just sells for six bits then drop it in a 39 cent envelope in a 5 cent top loader, write off the 15 cents or whatever you lost in the deal and mail the damn thing.

I just cannot understand the kind of pettiness that must go in to listing a worthless card (read: book value under $1.50) and trying to gross 3$ from the deal. Why waste your time? I mean, how important is that two bucks anyway? Consider all you have to go through. First, you have to list the card. Then collect payment. Then go to the post office. And, on top of this, you incur the risk of having your card NOT sell and having to pay the insertion fee. Who sits home at night sifting through 1993 Donruss cards and pulling the stars with the intention of listing them? Or, perhaps more importantly, who does this AFTER having been burned 6,8, or 10 times when doing the same thing? Has anyone ever met one of these guys?

I don't think these guys expect to sell anything...it's just a form of advertising to them.

I hate .10 listing days, I wish Ebay would drop this idea once and for all.

I may be naive, but how does the ten cent listing day really benefit Ebay? It seems to me that all the unsold items and the negative sentiment of many bidders would make them reconsider this idea.

The big listers do sell a LOT during these listings. Here are some of 707s
    sales.

These guys have built successful businesses and they wouldn't do it if it wasn't worth it.

Amazing. Maybe I should consign my PSA 8 1969 Preston Gomez cards to them. They could probably get 2x SMR ($40) when that card usually sells for $3.99 or less.
  • It really comes down to inventory, and guys like 707 and Keppler always have plenty of it, specifically older items. Many sellers have a certain niche, and 707 seems to cover a large section of psa grades over many years, hence they attract a big audience, which leads to many sales big and small for those who don't want to wait, or are looking to complete a set. I don't like it but there it is.
