1955 Topps raw on ebay now - check out these bids

Seller cmadden727 has a ton of raw 1955 Topps cards in auctions ending in a bit. The prices many of these are going for are insane.

Being only familiar with the raw cards on the 55s I would say for the condition these cards SEEM to be I see nothing out of wack on the majority of these cards.I built a 55 set raw and many of these cards in this condition are tough to go by.I think if these were 7 or 8s the prices would be much higher would they not??

Yes but if you truly trust scans to give you an accurate condition grading, well, let's just say I always discount a minimum of 1 grade. To see a high number common go for $100 raw . . . hmmm. If an 8 it is worth about the raw price. If a 7 you lose big. If there is a minute paper crease or something the scan doesn't show, fuggedabout it!

From what I can see this Snider may have three touched corners - both bottom and top right. May get knocked down to a 7? Centering is 8 though I guess. Good luck to the buyer, especially if there is a wrinkle.

Don't fret there goose, your cards will do just fine. And actually they're 1955's. I'll be watching them.

I know nothing about this seller...but does the Snider's borders seem a little 'thin' to anyone else?

Guy does give a description of each card. Does not claim that every card is mint. Are people paying too much? possibly.

    Good for you.

You guys must have better eyes than me. Or you're all paraniod lol! Anyway, TEACH ME! What do you see on the Snider that makes you think the corners are touched up or borders trimmed? What do I need to look for? What are the warning signs? Thanks in advance.
  • yankeeno7yankeeno7 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭
Maybe Im going crosseyed but I think the left border is concave, suggesting trimming. (and maybe not by the seller himself...but someone!)

By "touched" I meant that the corners show some wear, not "touched up."

But, check out the top border vs. the bottom border. Is the top parallel and the bottom not?

    An optical illusion?

<< <i>Yeah well lookie at who ended up with the Snider, coming to a PSA/GAI/SGC slab soon!

Very interesting. Love this neg he received from a seller -

"Claims I trimmed the baseball card, wants refund, I said no, he left - feedback!"

Talk about the pot calling the kettle cold black iron.

    All the other negs -

PRO cards, PRO cards, thief, worthless, etc.
