Went to a card show today and one intriguing thing I found was a card showing the 1933 NL All-Star team in a team photo. What I think is the same card can be seen in this auction:
1933 NL Team
The card at the show was beat up. It was brown tinted, a little crease, a couple dings on one edge, but the back looked noticeably cleaner than the front. The corners were also surprisingly square given the condition of the surface. The dealer didn't know what it was, coming out of a large collection he recently purchased. He looked in the big SCD book and thought it was a 1934 Goudey, and in fact there is a 1934 Goudey Premium set that includes a 1933 AS Team card, but those are oversized cabinet cards, whereas this is a standard size card. The back has a monochrome blue photo that, together with the other cards in the set a larger photopuzzle. This particular card showed Connie Mack speaking to another man whose head was turned away from the camera, and it looked like it was from the upper-left of the puzzle. I was thinking that the card wasn't made in 1933 or 1934, but did come later, like a 1940s or 1950s multi-topic set but couldn't be sure. It just didn't "feel" like a pre-WWII card. That, plus the complete lack of brand, manufacturer, and trademark indicia seemed odd.
So at this point I'm pretty sure what the dealer has is an aged, purposely or not, card made about 23 years ago. My question, though, is if anyone knows if this is a reprint of another set, or a creation completely of Renata Galasso. I'm pretty sure it's the latter, but if anyone recognizes it, let me know.
