I asked a seller about a game used (and signed) bat he is selling on ebay, and got the following responses
1) Time frame of when he got it (checks out)
2) If it had any markings:
The bat doesn't have any markings on the end of the bat; however, I am 100% sure X used this bat. I was watching in the stands when X cracked it and the bat head went flying at the 3rd baseman. The bat boy tossed the bat next to the trash can in the dugout and X handed it up to me and signed it for me after the game.
3) I asked if he would guarantee psa/dna or mears authentication, and he replied:
As far as PSN/DNA or MEARS authentication goes... I recently sent about 10 cards in for grading at PSA/DNA and all 10 did not pass. I had received everyone of the autographs in person and I knew they were authentic. I was very upset and I called PSA/DNA to inquire about the cards. I was told that... especially with sharpies... it is hard to identify the pen strokes of players. Also, if you have ever received an autograph in person you know that the players are usually in a rush about signing and halfway sign their signature.
I responded, asking if the same applied for the BAT itself, and he said:
I will also included a COA for the authenticity of the bat as well.
Does it seem legit? It was supposedly used when he was in the minors (probably bought when in AA), if that means anything.

Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com

The fact that it was a minor league game makes me much more likely to believe it, from the standpoint of player accessibility.
My advice is buy if if you like it, not because you think it will be worth more down the road. Look at it as a tangible piece of entertainment, not an investment.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
<< <i>but Rob at Sports Warehouse used to have a ton of badly cracked bats and splintered bats for extremely cheap prices. >>
Does he have a web site?
