EBAY RIPOFF!

So what do you do when someone from another country literally rips off your auction? This guy is not only using my images, he took my text and HTML right from Ebay when I had this medal for sale several months ago and is using it again. Is there any recourse? I can't change the images because he has moved them to another location.

Any ideas?

  • Change your base image to something... ahh... less appropriate?

    Whoops. Nevermind.

In the future put watermarks on your pictures.

I don't think there is a lot else you can do - ebay will never fix the problem in time.

  • I complained to ebay when someone used a picture of mine and they pulled the auction, could be worth a try.

Thanks all, I posted to several forums at Ebay and someone was nice enough to provide a link where I could place my complaint. Ebay doesn't make it easy for a person to make complaints....anyway, we'll see what they do. The guy is running the auction from Germany and perhaps they'll claim that they can't touch the guy.

I also wrote to the guy and told him what a scuzbag he is and that he has been reported. image

...or and error in his ways!! image

Anyone know about software that will watermark your images without taking away from their presentations?

WTF is up with the guys auction terms? I would steer a wide path.

"We reserve the right to block any bidder from participating in a listing, as well as to cancel suspect bids during the course of an auction."

    Seems wonky.

    Also:

"Postal insurance is required for all items which sell for $50.00 or more. We will not be responsible for any item that is lost or broken in transit. A filing of an insurance claim is the obligation of the buyer, although we will provide insurance receipt information upon request. Postal insurance fees will be assessed at close of auction."

I have always been under the impression that the shipper had to file an insurance claim, as they were the party that had a contract with the carrier.

I know nothing about this software, but it does intrigue me - being able to batch load watermarks would be plus. Has anyone here used it? Link

If you have Photoshop, there are free FILTERS for embedding Watermarks.

    Try Googling 'Photoshop Filters Watermark'

I'll give that a try JZ...your idea too Wybrit. I have PS7.0 but they only refer you to Digimarc Services that wants a whopping $499 annual subscription...besides, I don't need the damn things useage tracked, I just want to persuade everyone to leave them alone.

If the internet is the "Wild West," eBay is Tombstone, AZ!

If eBay doesn't ban this scumbag you can be sure he will steal another image and have another try...or learn from his error and try something worse.

<< <i>Buy it back and neg him. >>

He's never bought anything from him...he just literally copied my entire auction page and posted a new auction using it. I haven't a clue what his medal looks like nor would I ever buy from the ass-clown. image

A good threat of a Lawsuit. Images used without your consent. You own the photos & can Prove it. And your photography has a distinct look shouldn’t be hard to prove. No one shots Goetz like you. Also payment of the use of your photos might scare the seller. In addition any other photos he has used without you permission as well.

    And another one...

    HERE

I wrote to them and told them that I notified Ebay...all they did was move the reverse to the obverse position and vice versa...what a bunch of aholes coming out of Germany. I'm pretty sure this is the same person above but using a different ID.

I can't access my original listing that they stole the image from because it has been over thirty days...anyone know what I can do to prove to Ebay that this is my image and that it was ripped of yet again? Thanks

Listings go back 60 days, but you have to select that period of time in the appropriate box at the top of the "Sold" or "Not Sold area. image

Check your feedback listings for the link.. might have to click through a few, but it should still be there.

I see that the listing was removed. It looks like ebay is taking this sort of thing more to heart!!

Yeah, once I got the info to them they had the auction pulled within an hour!!! Perhaps it has something to do with my "powerseller" status...heh heh, that would be the only thing good the designation does for me...image

Anyway, it sure beats the reaction I got from them when I reported stolen images from the Terner auctions as being used to fraudulently sell rare pieces.
