I don't like the idea that I have to signup before I can see anything on the site.

Good luck, but I'll probably not take advantage of your site.
  • Thanks for taking the time to look at the site. I appreciate your input and will keep your comments in mind. I know people might be hesitant to give personal information to look at the rest of the site. However, there really isn't anything else to look at. Maybe I shouldn't use the word account. All we are doing is sending a search request on to many dealers then giving users a way to read responses without subjecting themselves to spam - thus the need for signing in. Once a person "signs-up" there is no more personal information required, no payment info stored, etc. It is only a way to read your messages.

SOunds like a pig-in-a-poke to me.

I'd have to agree to pay for something that I can't preview before buying.
  • Is your concern from a dealer's or a collectors perspective? In other words, are you not wanting to pay for a lead before you read it (dealers perspective) or are you worried about actually buying coins through the site without previewing them (collectors perspective.) ?

Quickly, if it is the former, would having the option of reading a lead first and only purchasing if you want to reply overcome this objection for you? I have considered this, however, the lead would then need to cost more like $1-2. I have designed the current pricing structure to encourage many replies so the site is very useful to the collector.

If your doubt is from the collectors perspective, I will be incorporating a way to upload images, rate dealers, etc such as Ebay and other sites do. In any case, the purpose of this site isn't really to facilitate the transaction. Its just to give the dealer a chance to say, "yes. I have just what you want. Give me a call or check out my website. By the way, I also have xyz that you might like." Dealer just met a new potential long time customer for 15 cents.

I'm really hoping you will clarify your concern. The site and general concept is totally new and a work in progress. I am very willing to listen to people like yourself and incorporate new ideas into the working model in order to overcome doubts, problems, etc.

By the way, here are the leads that have come in today and I haven't even been marketing the site to users very much yet, I'm really only targeting dealers right now. Our official launch isn't until June 1.

Leads Today: 1986 MS69 $5 Gold Liberty NGC or PCGS from Jeff Stubblefield; Raw or slabbed AU55-AU58 Barber quarters, and Barber Halves; silver edward the 1st from John; Dan Bury Mint "America’s Triumphs in Space" 12 gold coins in its original box excellet condition from Martha.

If you want to reply to any of these folks, just let me know. Again, thanks for your input.

    Hi Jeff,

As a dealer, I feel it's always good to generate new contacts. However, I don't like the idea of buying into a program that I can't evaluate first.

An example would be that here on the CU forums, you can lurk as long as you want to without signing up, however you can't post to threads, or send/receive PM unless you sign up first. Another would be the CCE where you can look around to some extent without signing up.

On top of that, on a quick look at your site, I find no explanation as to how the system works. Do you have a unique search engine that will search all member/dealer web sites for the requested items, or do I need to load my inventory into your system (on top of loading it into my system and my own web site)? Or do you personally run a web search for each item, filter it for content and send the results back to the collector.

These are just a couple of thoughts on the matter.

Thanks very much for your time and consideration in responding to my post both here and via email.

Coinfinder...you are not allowed to post to the BST more than once per day. Doing so will not only peeve forum members, but it can get you banned. Take the hints that have been dropped. Turn on your PM function and these kinds of messages will be delivered discretely.

    OT means Off-Topic.

What they're trying to tell you. This really should have been posted over on the "US Coins" forum, or the "open forum".

This forum is only for listing coins to Buy/Sell/Trade.
