Mystery Medal

I am presuming this is Austrian, and is commemorating something which happened in 1686. New money?
Also, this is a perfectly round medal, but note the distortion of the rims.

It's a reproduction of a German States coin; specifically, the thaler (or perhaps the double-thaler) from the city-state of Stade (KM/DAV#5814).

At least, I assume it's a repro. image The CV of the original coin is $1200 in VG, $4500 in EF.

Thank you. It appears to be a bullion piece of pure silver. There is a stamp of "1000" on the obverse, under the right wing of the imperial eagle.
