St. George Rose

Fascinating piece, probably used as an amulet, considering the wear and the mounting marks. What fascinates me most is the rose at the 4:00 position on the reverse.

  • I like it and the rose
  • Isn't the rose used as a mintage date reference?
Everything I write is my opinion.

Indeed, I have seen the rose used as a date reference, but I do not know the use for this medal based on a Kremnitz mint (Austria-Hungary) design.

I have a very similar jetton myself.
St. George slaying the dragon on the obverse and Christ and the disciples at sea in a storm on the reverse.

Edited to add: This appears to be an example like yours.

    I like the little differences.
My medal is about 45 mm. What is the diameter of yours?
