Tell me about 4 Sharp Corners or New England Sportscards........

I know there has been a lot of discussion about them on this board. Are they good sellers? Is their stuff as advertised? Return policy? Shipping? Thanks in advance.

This has been discussed before, might want to do a search for them on old threads. Some say they get special grading because they send in a ton of cards. I have bought from them many a time and they are not the fastest in shipping, and not the quickest is getting responses from. I think since they have so many cards up for sale, that it is noticed when there is a slightly off center card that gets an 8 or an 9. Never had a problem in my dealings with them.

I would avoid newenglandsportscards like the plague. It is all the junk that 4sc doesn't want to send in although they make you think you may get some good cards. You won't.

4SC - I won't buy from them, but not because of the cards. I think all the talk about special consideration and grades is BS. If you want and need the card, go for it. You won't be disappointed with the cards. I just don't like their attitude and the shipping gouging and the decieving alter id of NEwprtscards.

Since they apparently get so much stuff graded, would you be leery of buying anything raw from them?

very. if it's gradeable (is that a word?) then they would have sent it in to get graded.

  • I wouldn't buy raw from them. If you want raw, there are some really great dealers out there. newenglandsportscards isn't one of them. I agree with the consensus about their raw cards being the undesirables for grading.

I also stopped buying from 4SC. Yes, they have a great selection, but they don't combine shipping between selling ids, and I did have a bad experience with them. On this one occasion I bid on a card from them and won it. I didn't look at the scan of the card, rather I had bought from them before and had done a keyword search and a card I wanted popped up. Since I had no problems the first few times buying from them, I figured it would be a smooth process with them. I will reiterate--it was my fault for not looking at what was pictured and instead threw a blind bid in on what the title said. I thought I was getting a PSA 9 (auction title) for a good price and instead got a PSA 8 (scan of the card) for an average price. My complaint about the auction having errors fell on deaf ears and I completed it nonetheless, but I stopped buying from them because of that.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Did you ever call them on the phone for that? That is a correctable mistake on their part. I haven't had any major problems with them but they did forget to ship one of the cards I won. After I showed them I paid for it, including the shipping (which was combined with another win), they put it in the mail right away. I made sure I called them on the phone. They are not diligent about returning emails.

I actually just won a lot of 1975-76 Topps basketball cards from New England Sportscards yesterday. I don't plan on getting them graded but instead will use them for my TTM auto collection. For that reason I thought it was a fair deal and that the cards would be good enough for my project. Plus the fact that it was my favorite set as a kid so I will look forward to going through them image

I've bought many cards from 4SC and haven't had any problems. I don't agree with the shipping policy across their ID's but haven't had any problems with the actual cards received......can't comment on the other company, haven't had any dealings with them.

i have actually had some mixed results from 4- Sharp and thier multiple Id's. I have learned to pay very close attention to the photo of the card you are bidding on, because I have bid on and won some terrible looking cards that were graded nonetheless. Anyway, I have found that if I look at the auction photos I do pretty well with thier product. that being said, some of 4-Sharps multiple Id's are better and faster at shipping and customer service than others. In my experience with them i have found that the original 4-Sharp corners or 4-sharp corners footbal or baseball are pretty quick with thier shipping and that 4-sharp corners Store can be pretty slow with thiers. 4 sharp corners store has actually sent me an unpaid invoice a week after the auction has ended twice, when I paid the day of the auction. They are starting to get pretty high on shipping expenses also, but I must say that everything is packaged very well and usually received as ordered.

Just from limited personal experience, and viewing many of their scans, I think 4SC's cards are overgraded. Not by more than one grade, but overgraded for sure. I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way because it's reflected in their prices.

No argument here, I have bought a ton of 75's from them and I have to look closely now at the auction photos to make sure of the centering or other issues. Some of the 75's I have received would probably be o/c from another submitter. I accidentally purchased a 75 common card that has about a 1/2 inch blotch of yellow ink on the front, still not sure how that one didnt get an st.

    No serious problems here.

I would buy only graded though.

My one slight mishap is a 59 Topps that did not show nearly as much fading in their scan as it does in person. Scanners/software are wonderful things. It's a PSA7 so I can't gripe much anyway.

    Shipping? No problem yet.

I just got a card from them yesterday, and I've bought from them, (4SC) in the past with no problems. Shipping is slightly high but they pack the cards very well.
  • Bought 4 of the same PSA cards from 4sc as the combined shipping made it a great deal. They refunded as only 3 were apparently avail. Then 4 days later I see they post on ebay that same card. Hmm

They will send you what you won, but if the holders come scratched, they won't reimburse to get the cards reholdered. They will want you to send them back. The postage is worth the value of the cards though, so I just ate it and decided never to do business with them again. They will not fix all the problems they cause.

I recently purchased 19 1954 Topps (all PSA 4 and PSA 5) and 15 1955 Topps (all PSA 5 and 6) from them, and I for one could not be happier. The cards all looked sweet to me for those mid-grades, and the holders were perfect. Also, in each case, I won the cards across different days (8 days apart), and had no issues with the combined shipping, which came to about 65 cents a card.

I certainly understand people being upset with them not combining shipping across ids, but otherwise I'm very confused why everyone is upset about their shipping rates. They are no higher than other large volume dealers.

In terms of New England Sportscards, I don't think I've ever seen anything for sale by them and I definitely haven't purchased from them. But I would agree that it's probably not a good idea to buy raw from them if they are indeed the 4-sharp-corners rejects.
