restrike 1915 ducat - proof?

pardon the scan, there was a little fuzz on the holder.

A while back I purchased this Austrian ducat on ebay - anyone think this is a proof, or just a recent restrike?

  • I personally think re-strike, but I am NOT an expert on this is NO way. Just my lay numismatist opinion.

Yeah, it's a restrike, but I don't know much about it...

do they all look fairly prooflike, if handled well? Over the years I've had a couple others and none of them had surfaces that popped against the field areas like this one - so this is the only one I kept.
  • Are there any orginals out there? Plus everyone seems to say Proof-Like. If it's a re-strike does that make it not a proof? Sharp to the touch!

    Re-Strike Here is mine

No they are not Proofs, but they are proof-like. This is because they are struck with polished dies on polished planchets. All of them with the 1915 date are restrikes.
