47 Down--1969 Topps Football 4-in-1 Completed in PSA 8 or Better.

Once again, I have set registry participants to thank for completing another set--this time it is starting and completing a set. Art Miller(Skinsfan), a savvy football collector, e-mailed me and offered to sell me the set in PSA 8 or better minus 1 card. I accepted and 2 weeks later Jeremy(The Football Card Store) swooped in and sold me the last card I needed. Bingo--another one complete.
Thank you guys.

This set stands 2nd on the registry with a 8.06 set rating, behind only the Evil Empire. It has 59 psa 8s and 7 psa 9s. I intend to let this set rest at this level for the time being.

This represents the 14th set in PSA 8 or better I have completed since year-end 2005--a level well above my expectations.

My goal continues to be over 100 vintage or semi-vintage sets in PSA 8 or bettere with an interim goal of 50 by year-end 2006.

Good stuff, Jim! I love the '69 4-in-1 sets. Always thought that they were fun! Not sure why baseball is so much harder than football, though.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Jim,

Congrats on yet another awesome accomplishment.

Question for you. I know you have said you have these cards displayed very well and you offer people a tour. For those of us that live a good distance away do you have any pictures you can share?

    Thanks and congrats,

    Glen

    Coachh,

It sure is--I love finishing sets!

    Marc,

Thanks--I think I have the baseball set raw. Will put that in the next batch.

    ChicagoGlen,

I will ask someone who comes to my next party to bring a camera.

You are welcome to see it anytime if you get to the NYC area.

    Tom,

Thank you. I am very enthusiastic about the hobby and very grateful that so many collectors are trying to help me in my quest for over 100 vintage sets in PSA 8 or better.

    Art,

I laughed when I wrote that figuring it would get a reaction from you or Mike.

Sorry I will miss you guys at Ft. W.

    Thanks again for the set.

    Ironranger,

Thank you. Not quite a lock. The last 1-2 cards in most every set are killers....but I do feel better about meeting my 2006 goal anyway.

    Jim
