Arnold the Governator doesn't want 1 NFL in LA - he wants 2!

"After meeting with the owners, the actor-turned-politician emerged to say he was there to make sure "we're getting not only one NFL team to the Los Angeles area, Southern California, but to actually get two teams. That's why I came. Why limit it?"
What's this guy thinking? The reason teams left LA is no revenue...there's just too many other things to do in LA than sit at a game for 4 hours. LA fans are notorious for arrive late and leaving early. And Arnold thinks the team could support 2 teams?

Your argument about the LA market being saturated with sports teams and different things to do around here is valid. However, our population is growing, so I think there is still some market potential. Angels Stadium and Dodgers Stadium are still the same size, more or less, than a decade ago, but the LA population has risen. I am sure the Scwarzenegger team did some number crunching and some research before making their assumptions on how football teams could impact the state and if there was a potential market here for that sport.
I knew people here arrive late and leave early when it comes to games, but the ticket prices stay the same whether you are here 9 innings or 3.
On a side note, Schwarzenegger is clever enough to back down on an idea that he sees is not working or is not going to work. He is the type of governor who wants to see things work, produce results and make people happy and content. In a way, I compare him to Julius Caesar's administration of the Roman Republic (now that is an interesting intellectual exercise).

<< <i>I don't remember where you live (Washington State?), but this is a California concern and I would not expect others to even care unless they are broad minded. I like Schwarzenegger as my governor and my guess is that sports teams help stimulate the economy and give people an outlet to enjoy life. >>
First off, you like your governor, I like my president, but many from Cali would call me stupid and uneducated!
I have been to Cali, I have been to Washington!
I would much rather camp at Lake Wenatchee like I have a couple times, than ever go to Cali again, and people in the Seattle are much more to my liking, would much rather have someone look at me with a smile in Washington, than have someone look at me in disgust, because I am not a local, because I have a camera!
Stimulate the economy? If the rich people there cared about that, they would not do their shopping in Europe!
LA can have 3 teams if they choose.

California doesn't support the A's and Raiders now (both teams' attendance sucks), why should they expect to support two teams in the same city?
various networks and having a team in the second largest TV market is very important.
My guess is it will get done eventually, either a new franchise or by someone moving.
(The LA Vikings?)
But this really stood out to me in your post:
<< <i>On a side note, Schwarzenegger is clever enough to back down on an idea that he sees is not working or is not going to work. >>
Really? How did he do backing down from the idea of the special initiative election, even though every poll during and up to it said 'hey, we don't want this...save it for 2006?' And as a result, every one of his initiatives was thoroughly defeated.
Why all the California hate in this thread? Republic of Kalifornia? Huh? What, because it's a liberal state that has major economic clout you feel the need to insult?

Also those living in kalifornia should have a limit as to the amount of income they can keep t. Any extra dollars they earn should be given to the poorer states.

Wasn't always that way (liberal). In 1976 Calif went for Ford when the nation elected Carter.
The Republic of Kalifornia is the 5th largest economy in the world (barely ahead of France). It is not an underdog people like to cheer about.

<< <i>I think Kalifornia should should get back less then it does now in Federal tax so states like Mississppi and Arkansas and other poorer states can enjoy a higher standard of living. Sorta like the NBA, NFL and for those that have paid attention the NHL do. They all divide up the revenues .

Do you work on continually driving down the quality of your posts? I mean this is perhaps the most moronic, idiotic thing you've ever said.
Quit trying to equate the great state of california with the revenue sharing that should be happening baseball, you simple minded twit.
Steve
Perhaps, but it is still not as moronic as some of the dribble that has come out of that cement head that you have. You still have me beat. I would prolly have to post 30 more such posts to even attempt coming close to the idiotic rants that you seem to come up with. Now go and hide under your bed until I call for you.
Steve
Oh dear boy...what am I going to do with you?
Your post epitomizes what you are - someone who looks to pick (and lose) fights with me.
Look, your post was beyond ridiculous, and had no relevance to the prior discussion about the much needed salary cap in baseball.
In your dreams boy, in ya dreams............

Actually that is not such a bad idea. California sucks up a lot of federal dollars and spends it on things that many in other parts of the country may not agree on...such as support for illegal immigrants?
But really, if we shared revenue equally with states like Mississippi and Arkansas they would just remain the 49th and 50th worst states for education, etc.
Kind of like the Mariners.

Don't tell the French - they'll surrender.
Just like the Mariners.
hehe
Exactly
See Axhole that wasn't that hard.
