    Hi Micheál,

Sasanian is not my area of expertise, but to my eye it looks like an Ardashir III, and a nice one to boot.

  • Busy looking coin. And what a head dress the king has on. Had to look hard to find him. Cool

    Hi Josh,
Well the seller said it was Khusro II but when I checked my reference it didn't match any from that reign. I will check Ardashir II and III and see if it is one of them. I know you deal in alot of ancients and I thought you may know off hand. Yes this is a very pleasing example so I took it regardless of whom the King maybeimage

    Thanks,

Well, if you bought it as a Khusro II, you did quite well as it's almost certainly something more scarce than that.

    Agreed!

Ardeshir III looks right--an obverse photo with less glare could help confirm, especially one showing the writing clearly. Here's what I can figure out: It's regnal year 2 (REV, left) and minted in BYSh - Bishapur (REV, right).
