Edgerrin James...Future HOF'er?

I think this guy is definetly on the way to the hall, and will be considered a Top 10 all-time rusher when he's done. He's still pretty young and is again going to be on a team with a host of offensive weapons(Boldin, Fitz, Pope, and the recently drafted Leinart). What do you think of him? Drops some thoughts.

I think that some people will hold the offense he was in against him - meaning that teams defended against Manning first.

I don't agree with that. I think he's an elite back, definitely on his way to the hall, though he does need some more great seasons.

  • I definetly agree. The thing is, I think what happens to Manning not only this season but the next few years will show how important Edge was to their offense. Not only as for his rushes, but blocking, and recieving ability. With the reciever that Arizona has, Safeties can't cheat in to stop the run, a big reason why getting Leanard Pope was a huge pickup imo.

  • I've been a skeptic for the reasons axtell mentioned; it'll be interesting to see how he does in the desert.

HE WILL BE IN THE HALL
  • If he retired today no he would not make it but if he has a few more years like he has had then he will make it. So I would say he is probably a future hall of famer.
  • On the way, but needs at least 2 more 1500 yard seasons.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

We'll see. Arizona, although they've never had an elite back, has never had a great run blocking line. Edge should prosper with those WR's they have, though...

The answer to this question clearly lies in Arizona. If he retired today, no he wouldn't be a HOFer.

BUT, through his first 7 years, he is well on his way. James is averaging 1,318 yards per season. That's better than the current active rushing leader Curtis Martin (1,282) with just Tomlinson (1,472) and Portis (1,483) averaging more. He also has 4 Pro Bowls.

By my estimation, he will need -at a minimum- 3,000 more rushing yards, and at least another Pro Bowl Selection to reach the status necessary to warrant serious HOF consideration. So its all going to come down to what he can accomplish in his new digs...

Personally, I think he reaches and surpasses both of those milestones if he can stay healthy.

I hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle in AZ, their line was Soooo bad with the run last year, it could effect his #'s greatly. He might have a hard time if he fails to reach a 1000 yards in each of the next few seasons, I dont see this happening and if not I believe he will make it eventually.
