On a side note I think it is because Bonds might not try to chase Aaron down. It might be justice if he decides to leave the game after this year and maybe with 35+++ to get to Aaron. If he cant finish this year and maybe cant get to Aaron in one more, then it is over. Noway that guy will be in baseball after next year!!!!

<< <i>thx...i saw those - his prices are always way too high >>
too high prices seems a tad incongrous to 'dire need'
I have a dire need for tons of HOF rookie cards at a fraction of their value - but no one seems to care.
I get so tired of seeing people write comments about a dealer being too high. I would be willing to bet most of these guys have never bought a card from Levi and yet they talk trash about him. If some of you only knew how valuable 707 sportscards is to this hobby and how important a dealer like that is to know.

Craig19 merely said Levi's prices are "way high". That's not talking trash about him, it's reality. Some of his cards are overpriced to the point that you can't even touch them, meaning that asking for a discount still wouldn't make a difference. A few examples:
PSA 9 '66 Sayers
Levi's price ($3,000)
Market value ($1,800)
PSA 9 '66 Jenkins
Levi's price ($1,250)
Market value ($750)
PSA 9 '67 Seaver
Levi's price ($3,000)
Market value ($2,000)
These were just off the top of my head, but there's obviously more. This though is not bashing. I've bought from Levi before. I think he's a nice guy. I don't think overpricing a card equates to being a jerk (or at least not in his case). It's obvious that he doesn't need to sell his cards, or he would be more willing to discount, set lower prices, etc. I have no problem with what he prices his cards at. After all, their his cards and no one is under any obligation to buy them. If you need something bad enough, you'll find a way to pull the trigger. But to say that many of his cards are not "way high" is simply untrue.
On another note, anyone have any thoughts on when the SMR for the Aaron rookie will go up?

He is so important that when he leaves the hobby no one will ever be able to take his place. PLEASE!! Everyone is replacable. He is not a greek god. This goes for any dealer not just him.

Jawhawke-
Did I mention anywhere in my thread that Levi was a Greek God or that his services could never be replaced? My opinion of Levi is that he is great for the hobby and has more knowledge of cards than most. Are some of Levi's prices high on cards? Yes. Is his whole inventory high? No. I was just trying to inform other VINTAGE collectors that he is an asset to this community. Once a collector starts dabbling in pre-war cards, it is important to align yourself with knowledgable and trustworthy dealers and collectors.
Again, my point was to simply endorse Levi for those who are true collectors of cards. It was never meant to offend guys who bottom fish for their collections.
Best of luck-

Shane, I am not sure what you mean by this comment. Do you mean, collectors who don't over pay or don't buy from Levi are bottom fishers?
There are many things that are said negatively towards people and dealers in general on this board. I have met many collectors from this forum whether it was at the National or just communicating like this. Many of these guys have never spent a dime with any dealer, but they keep the bashing up like they have been wronged by one of them. Most of the guys that post here choose to purchase on Ebay as their sole way of building their collections. That is fine and I am not knocking them. I think EBay is a great choice as a resource to find items, to find them at a right price and in most cases to determine market value. I use EBay for those reasons and I also use dealers when I am searching for that hard to locate item. Ebay has its purpose and so do the dealers. Dealers are not a valuable resource when you are collecting a 1978 Topps set. I am not trying to be mean but to be honest. You can find any 1978 Topps card right now in any card shop.
If the richest man in the world right now said, "I want to buy a 1954 Wilson Weiner set right now at any price." Levi would most likely be the only option for that guy.
Your response from my original post leads me to believe that you have not dealt with him before. If you had, I don't think you would have responded the way that you did. Levi is a cool guy and has a reason for his pricing.
He also has one extensive inventory that quite frankly makes most of these dealers look like they just began.
Best in collecting-

I could believe this since 707 charges such outrageously high prices for his cards.

No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
