Crossover from Beckett?

I had a 2 card submission (Ryan RC and Topps Gretzky RC) to PSA come back last month as ungradeable due to "Does not meet minimum size requirements". I happened to have a voucher for free grading from Beckett so I sent in to them and my grades just came:

1968 Topps Nolan Ryan BVG 5.0
1979 Topps Gretzky BVG 7.0

This was my first submission to Beckett and I had heard they can be tougher on older cards than PSA would be, and sure enough they're about a half to full point lower than I was hoping for (though I was glad they at least slabbed them to begin with). What are people's experience out there as to resubmitting to PSA as a crossover (still in the BVG slab) cards that have already been rejected by PSA for one reason or another?
Looking for Charlie Frye Jersey's, Auto's, and serial numbered RC's!

  • Nobody with any crossover experience on previously rejected cards? Any feedback is appreciated.

I have not submitted anything in a holder from any other company. I always crack it out and resubmit it. The problem with doing that with a Beckett card that has already been submitted to PSA once is that you're running the risk of PSA not holdering the card a second time. This is especially the case because Beckett's grading is inconsistent and generally not to be trusted.

You're kind of in a bind here, but you might try it with one card only and see what happens. That way you're not paying for 2 cards and being doubly disappointed if it doesn't work out.
