Did anyone check out bbcxchange's auctions today? They had a ton of stuff available, from wrappers to racks, packs, boxes, cases, etc. etc.
I ended up winning a couple lots. One was for a 1966 Philadelphia fb wrapper. I've got a few of those cards so it'll be nice to have that to complement the (near-) set. The other was for a couple 1987 Donruss wax boxes.
One lot I couldn't believe was for 72 1974 bbc wrappers.

I think someone on the boards bought some 85t bb sets and they were sweet. I recall they got several 10's they needed.

I believe it was Tennesseebanker, and I think he pulled 2 PSA 10 Clemens'. They were factory sets if I recall correctly.

<< <i>I was considering getting some 70s sets raw for my collection. Not into set registry or anything yet, just Topps sets. I've had decent luck on Ebay, but it is a crap shoot. If BBCEs sets are consistently in good condition it would make sense to start going here unless somebody has other ideas? >>
My guess is that Steve would shoot pretty straight with you if you asked him about the condition. Just call and say you're looking for a PSA 7 (or 8, or 9) quality set on average, and he'll probably let you know if the set in question is right for you.
Something else I had hoped to pick up was this '63 Fleer bb wrapper. It went beyond what I was willing to pay...

<< <i>I've heard nothing but good things about bbcexchange, so I felt comfortable bidding on their stuff. I don't remember seeing any 1985 Topps sets for sale. There were some '85T Update sets available.

That's the truth. I drooled over the 40+ auctions I was watching and had a heck of time narrowing down what I wanted to bid on. I was curious how a lot of the auctions would end after I decided what I was going to focus on, so I didn't delete the bookmarks. There were a lot of good deals being made, I'm sure...
I wonder how he chooses what to open and what to sell.

Call me a cynic, but I can't help but think people are going to sell 'packs' in those wrappers.

I think this is an unfortunate dilema. Ultimately it is the uninformed buyers who make this possible. if a buyer would do a little research before buying then there would not be any way these scumbags could profit from this practice. there are sellers out there with 99% feedback who sell resealed after resealed pack and there trying to stop them is a losing battle becasue the buyers always think they are getting a good deal and think you have an agenda when you cut down the scum and expose the truth. most buyers take the blinders and earplugs approach and end up wasting there money. one of the hobbies many black eyes

Ya know, that has to be the only logical reason why those wrappers went for over $3 apiece. I couldn't believe it when I saw it jump up every time I looked at it.
On another bbcexchange note, a lot has been said here about the '86Topps set and how hard it is to find high-grade stuff. If I wouldn't have gotten the lots I did, I would've been going for some of the '86T stuff, like the 6 vending boxes (3,000 cards!). I know some are down on the vending boxes, but for under $4.00 per box, that's quite a deal. A case of '86T vending went at a reasonable price, too.
I can't wait to get the 2 '87D boxes. I'm going to open one and stash the other...
