How many of your coins are other members using as their icon?

BaleyBaley Posts: 22,658 ✭✭✭✭✭
I see many coins I own when certain other members post, as they are using my current or former icon as their avatar

I wonder how many others get to see their coins "showcased" so?

how do you feel about it?

    Two coins I currently own.

Bothered me when I first saw one but then I went with this philosophy:

I see my 1883 proof IHC used from time to time by a few people.

As long as I'm not currently using it I don't care (otherwise I'd get confused seeing it in a thread and thinking I said something I didn't)

When I first started here I used someone's image of a double eagle but since then have only used my own pics (except for one of the Tennessee pics -- the logo one which I took from UT's site). I don't have an issue if anyone wants to use one of mine.

Before my current icon, I used this Walker for 18 months. I still own it too ( and not interested in selling in case anybody was wondering ). At one time, I counted 7 different people using it. One I`m sure was a troll.image Otherwise, I guess I`m OK with it.image

Someone is using my toned $10 gold eagle. (My favorite toned coin.)

I'm proud someone would use one of my icons!

Someone started using my Ha Ha Guy avatar. Now I get confused if it's me or not. I think I need a new avatar anyway. I tried to make one out of Denise, but she doesn't translate well to small size (if you catch my drift).

Every now and then someone shows up with my 3 legged 1937-D buff nickel.

It's aways funny to see that.

I think there is a currency icon that I made that shows up now and then too.

I am using someone's because the process of uploading one isn't very clear. Why should I have to select from a list of file names containing hundreds of files? Usually you upload your own icon file and I attempted to when I set up my profile, but now if I go to change it I am presented with the giant list of files already uploaded.

I joined about one year ago. Went to the icon upload page, found an icon I thought was good for me, uploaded it and have used it ever since. A month or so after getting set up I had LeeG post a Texas Commem. and ask where I got my icon - his large picture was my icon. I told him that it came from the PCGS upload page and thanked him for it. He was cool about it - perhaps even pleased that PCGS thought it was worthy of icon status. I suggest that before anyone goes balistic over seeing their coins used as icons by others you find out if the coin is on the icon upload page. Maybe it follows that if you don't want to see one of your pictures used as someone else's icon that you discuss it with Carol. BTW - thanks are due once again to LeeG for my icon (the check is in the mail Lee). I like it and appreciate the fact that you don't mind my using it.
