It looks a little better to me, either vg10 or f12 at best.

  • Looks 08, but be sure the rims aren't filed or there are other problems--the holder doesn't add much for the cost, at that grade.

Hey coinman, this coin is a nice coin and will be the same nice coin if you crack it out and get it put into a different company's plastic case---Only you will be a little poorer and the new plastic company will be a little richer-----AND the coin will stay the exact same and be worth the same amount because it is still the exact same.image
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • Can't be VG-10 or F-12. The cotton bolls show no detail.
  • yep, its graded vg08. i know the plastic won`t add any value at this grade. i just figured if i ever decide to sell it, it would draw less money as most people assume coins in a pci holder is always overgraded. thanks

VG. Crack it and throw it in an album.

Cotton bolls show no detail, but I thought separation of the hairlines and face were diagnostic for F12...I'd split the difference and go VG10.

It's a VG8. It's not a 10 or 12. I've frequently found that the third tier grading services do a better job on the lower grade circulated coins. Not always...but at least more often than the mint state stuff. I have several ACG, PCI, NGC coins in the VG8 to VF30 range that are spot on for the grade.

I wouldn't reslab it. There is an easier route. When your ready to sell, just PM me. I'll pay you full VG8 for it and slap it in an album! That way we'll both be happy with the grade, and the coin will be freed from its plastic coffin!

OK, anyway, what did PCI think the grade was?

Coinman420 said in his follow up post it was graded VG8. Here is another example of another circulated coin correctly graded by a controversial grading company.

If the last one went 8...I'd say F12 or 15 for this one...there doesn't seem to be 2/3 of the hair detail left to make VF20.

I really don't care what that coin (pictured in your post) grades... It is a great looking Morgan.
