when do you consider reporting someone as a no-pay ? (ebay)

I dont even want to breech the subject with a buyer yet, lest I come off as being heavy handed.

here's the story. invoiced after a sale...no word for 10 days. invoiced again. no word for another 6 days. "contacted seller".. response "oh boy, I completely forgot I won your item, ill get a MO to you today". (I have a note PPAL only, but that's besides the point). Anyway. it's been about 12-14 days, no MO. I just contacted them again asking them which address they sent the MO to so I can see if something happened. (basically a nice way to say "WTF???"). No response yet.

What annoys me is that the buyer has purchased 3 more items from other ebay buyers since the purchase from me, and paid them all immediately (so I gather).

It's been a full month now since he won the auction from me.

I dont even want to start a "no pay" bidder conversation lest thing get hostile, but I guess Im running out of patience. I dont even mind the back-neg, though I think that's what Im looking at if I try to force the issue.

Sigh. what do you think ?

Don't be a wuss. File the NPB against him now. He's had more than enough time to get payment to you.

Since it's been a month, I would have already had my final fee credit and relisted the auction.

I state in my auctions that payment must be received 10 days after the close (I'm thinking of chaning it to 7)

On day 10 I file the Unpaid item dispute, and then wait the required 7 days before getting the final value fee credit.

If somebody contacts me first with a story, I give them more time. But if they flake out on their due date I file the dispute.

But I send one invoice and don't contact them again, I just go through the eBay unpaid item dispute system.

Doesn't eBay have a link/button in the now-closed auction that says something to the effect of "I haven't gotten my money yet"?
    When in doubt, don't.

i would try to get out of the situation without
a neg and relist it. add the buyer to your blocked list.
it could be much much worse.

maybe ive been lucky but ive had zero problems, and have met some nice people selling some of the coins ive purchased.
this is my first questionable buyer. maybe i was overdue.

Ill give him a couple days to respond, then ill report him. sigh. so much for my 100% feedback image

    thanks for your opinions.

reported. if something interesting happens ill post it image
  • I could be wrong, but I don't think a non paying bidder, reported through ebays protocol, CANNOT leave you a negative feedback.

edited to change 'can' to 'CANNOT'

    duh....
  • I'd send an email to the winner , stating that if no responce and or payment is recieved by x date that a nonpayment complaint will be filed with ebay. I did this after a person by the third week hadn't made payment & stop communicating with me. the time ran out . I filed nonpayment. I had my payment the next day, also no neg s' for me or my buyer(glad just to get my payment) .Since then this ebayer has won more auctoins from me.He has become a good costumer. still slow to pay but the payment gets here.
  • Give him a clear deadline first before reporting. Like, "if I do not receive your paypal payment within two days I will find it necessary to report you as a non-paying member in order than other sellers will understand the risk." image

I file a NPB after 30 days, that gives the buyer 7 days to pay up or get a strike.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • You've been really patient with the buyer. I agree with others that have said you should send one more e-mail to him/her and state, "Send me the payment by this date, or else." If he ignores you then, file a NPB complaint.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
