The Jets picked up a QB in the second round, Kellen Clemens. I don't know much about him. He was never touted with the top 3 QBs who went in the 1st round.
Can you please point out Simms' record last year as a starter?
And barbies? That's all you got? Pink ribbons? Really, I expected much better from an eagles fan. I guess the horrible season you had last year, coupled with absolutely no hope of a winning season this year has you so demoralized you have nothing original or witty to say (what the hell am I saying...eagle fans NEVER have something witty or original to say).
Look, you guys will be good, again, right? I mean, that's what ownership keeps feeding you, right? That you don't need a good WR, right? A bunch of never-will-be #3 receivers is all ya need, right?
<< <i>The Jets picked up a QB in the second round, Kellen Clemens. I don't know much about him. He was never touted with the top 3 QBs who went in the 1st round.
<< <i>Thanks Al Davis! I'm really looking forward to another losing season. Why we didn't draft a Qb is beyond me >>
Well, that's probably true. But Michael Huff is a stud, and with Woodson gone the Raiders have no shot in a division with the Chargers, Broncos and Chiefs if they didn't do something about the secondary. Green and Plummer would have just picked that current bunch apart.
Brooks is no world beater, but he won't be worse than Collins. And just look at it this way-- since the Raiders will suck terribly this year they'll have a real shot at getting a franchise QB in the 2007 draft! That's how we Lion fans always approach it, and it's a great 'glass half full' perspective!!
<< <i>The Jets picked up a QB in the second round, Kellen Clemens. I don't know much about him. He was never touted with the top 3 QBs who went in the 1st round.
The J-E-T-S IMO had a fantastic draft. You can win without a great QB, but you stand no shot of playing tackle football in Jan. without a solid O-Line. There are very few exceptions to this.
Leinart would have just gotten murdered up there with that current O-Line, and he's probably better suited to a stadium that doesn't get too windy (given the questions about his arm strength). With two defensive gurus coaching rival teams in the division (Belichick and Saban), and that current offensive line, it's safe to say Leinart would have had some very, very bad games playing for the Jets. Plus, the media pressure in NY would have probably had him starting in game 4 or so once Pennington goes on IR with a hangnail, so there goes the 'sit him for one year' idea.
In NY Leinart would have gone the way of Joey Harrington; an intelligent, laid back guy who just got devoured by the win-hungry fans that root for the team he was drafted by.
I agree that the Jets had an excellent first day of drafting...nothing spectacular, but solid picks that address serious needs.
I was surprised how well the Niners did as well. Veron Davis is a monster...saw a drills competition he particpated in and he was just unreal. Denver, trading its second round pick for Walker was a steal, as I heard the day before the draft the Pack was looking for two second round picks for him. And of course Arizona got the deal of the day in Leinart at 10. Not only do they get a franchise type QB, but since he fell to 10, he won't command top dollar.
I was (and I think many others were) shocked at what Buffalo was doing. wtf? Did someone fall asleep? Some very, very odd choices.
I'm very pleased with the Eagles picks. We need to first beat the NFC East teams again and these picks will help us do that. I hope you Cowboys, Giants and Redskins fans remember your thrill of beating the Eagles last season because those days are over!
<< <i>And barbies? That's all you got? Pink ribbons? Really, I expected much better from an eagles fan. >>
This from the guy who states "women who wear pink" and "Princess license plates" on a thread about what really bugs you?
Please, you should spend more time with your psychologist not on these boards. You have issues son.
Yes, I have more. But I also have a heart...Princess.
BTW - Simms won games by the skin of his teeth last year. He cannot pass and his record shows it. 150 yards a game won't make it. This year it will catch up to him. The Bucs will not make the playoffs.
Mcnabb has several good receivers. Reggie Brown? Possibly another TO. They'll also pick up someone else before the season. Better tight ends. The O scheme will get back to a more balanced game.
Players do not have to have big names or contracts to make a contribution. You harp about teams who do not use their farm system, teams who buy big named players. The Eagles have done it through drafting and player development. They seldom let good players go.
Johnson had another few good years in him. The Bucs wouldn't pay. Shut up about owners who don't pay, it allows them to develop players and increase salaries.
In contrast, the Bucs have much less cap room and 07 may be worse.
Well, my favorite team, the Steelers made some odd choices too. They took 2 WR's and a Safety. Being that they are considered a physical team, they look to be working on finesse. They didn't seem to have much problem with the passing game or the defense so those 3 picks seem bizarre to me. Given that Lendale White was still available, that would have seemed like a better choice considering Bettis' retirement.
As for my second favorite team, the Cardinals, I was tickled sh*tless today. Hearing that they took Leinart pulled me out of a dead sleep (I work nights and I left the TV on all day). If they can't put up some serious offense firepower with that lineup, then they are hopeless. On paper, it's starting to look like the Greatest Show on Turf Part 2, but we'll see how they put it all together. I don't remember them EVER having that much offensive talent at one time. I'm sure that Boldin and Fitzgerald are partying up a storm tonight. Too bad for Warner though, he is one of my all time favorite players. He'll retire with millions though. Not bad for a guy who worked in a grocery store and made his way up through Arena Football.
Warner gives Leinart time to develope more....even though he may be ready now....It never hurts to watch...Palmer turned out real nice for the bungles!! That sure has to tick of Akili Smith.
Leinart was a steal. Plus, how could any young QB (or any player) not want to play in Arizona? He has a nice challenge in front of him (playoffs) and grrrreat weather!
<< <i>This from the guy who states "women who wear pink" and "Princess license plates" on a thread about what really bugs you? >>

<< <i>Players do not have to have big names or contracts to make a contribution. You harp about teams who do not use their farm system, teams who buy big named players. The Eagles have done it through drafting and player development. They seldom let good players go. >>
The NFL is a completely different beast than baseball..quit using flawed analogies. There is no farm system in the NFL. Well I know that you flip flop on your arguments more so than george bush. First you say that Walker is going to be the answer to replace TO, then its the Eagles dont need big name free agents when they blow their chances to get him, then you go back and say the Bucs cap situation is worse than the Eagles.

Never spoke about Walker on these boards other than to say he was in Philly for a physical. Actually I was not sure he was a good choice. Again, do your homework. Try not to post while consumed by idiotic thoughts. Maybe then we won't have to read your crap as often.
Your own posts speak volumes about any team in any sport that buys major stars, especially those in NYC or Philly. Now come back with the Philly cheap owners stuff and tell me again that I am a hypocrite.
The Bucs cap trouble will not allow them to continue to pay their stars and increase salaries for those drafted who play well, hence they may have to let players go. There goes your argument.
Johnson played better last year than Simms and under more difficult circumstances. The Bucs made a mistake in letting him go, period.

Buffoon.

Another question I have that maybe somebody can answer. What's with Denver picking Jay Cutler? Didn't Jake Plummer just come off an MVP type year? Have the Broncos lost faith in Plummer or are they looking to trade somebody. Plummer doesn't seem to have done anything to make the Broncos lose faith in him. Cutler is going to get paid a lot of money to sit on the bench. This will be Plummer's 9th season which really isn't all that much. If he just put up MVP type numbers, I'm sure he has 3 or 4 more good season's left in him. Any thoughts?

Although Plummer had a good year last year, towards the end of the season he started reverting back to his old form.

Philly was going to pick Bunkley if they traded up as Lothar mentioned, and I think you'll see it in one of my earlier posts.

why wouldnt the eagles take holmes or jackson? mcnabb still doesnt have anyone to throw to. god its gonna be great blowing them out again this year
THey moved up and took Max Gilles of Georgia at guard..we got 2 of our 5 lineman this draft for the future..both will be studs...
then they get Jason Avant out of Michigan...a decent WR that could develope well...
GREAT PICKS!!!!
Parcells wants to run a 2 TE set as the primary offense. Fasano is a very good reciever and blocker. He will start next year
With T.O, Glenn, Witten and now Fasano the Cowboys will give defenses some trouble.
Jaws called Fasano his best pick so far
We now have our free safety. Pat Watkins. Saw him as a 3rd rounder on most mocks and as high as a 2nd on one. We got him in the 5th
He's a terrific athlete and the type of ball-hawking f.s we needed
