Check out this bidding war

I thought I might try and upgrade my 67 SMS dime to an MS-68 since PCGS lists the price at $65 non cameo.

Wow, no way.

Wouldn't it make sense that should someone really want a coin that they'd actually make no bid at all till the last possible moment in order to ambush / snipe the coin for as little as possible?

I recall once seeing a coin I really wanted being bid on by someone I don't particularly like. We went toe to toe right out the blocks so hard that the seller was right at the selling price immediately. Ahhh, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. image

This, no doubt, would make sellers just a wee bit nervous. imageimage

This is a perfect example of why one should always snipe. rsappel paid $75 more than he would have if he had sniped. jamarshalldc would have stopped bidding with his first bid, being high bidder. rsappel's $201 snipe would then have won at $126. Well, good for tnfc I guess. I've always liked those guys, even if they do dabble in third world slabs from time to time.

TNFC dabbles in third world slabs ALL the time! But I also like these guys. I picked up a key date PCGS coin from them some time back. The coin was great and the service was even better.

It's also a perfect example of missing the bus and knowing another is right around the corner.
Here's another, offered by the same seller.

Betcha it doesn't get anywhere close to $200.

Oops, I misread the ad myself. I need to look closer.

First bidder places bid of $201

Second bidder comers along and bids up in $5 increments, and stops at $200?

When you see $201 pop up, and you jsut bid $200, you know $201 is the max!

He/she still had 2 hours to bid $206.

If you are that crazy about the coin, what is $6 more?

I have bought several coins from TNFC and have no complaints. I got an MS68 1966 SMS Quarter, Pop 25/0,
for less than $50 from them. I just bought a 1948-S MS67 Cent from them for $14.00. Both were PCGS.
