Stupid question?

Heck, I'll ask anyway, I'm curious. If a batter let's go of the bat while he's in the batter's box and the bat (which he is no longer holding) "hits" the pitched ball (actually the ball hits the bat) and trickles like a bunt in front of the catcher, is it in play?
Wise men learn more from fools than fools learn from the wise.

Roberto Clemente was famous for throwing his bat against a pitched ball.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

Yes (if fair) and yes if foul and caught in the air.
