Went to the bank today...asked for $30 in halves. The teller plopped them down on end, I could se they were machine wrapped(cool) and one was a becentennial(cool, not likely all newer stuff)

Got in the van, looked...other ends had been opened already and halves put back in. Crap.

Looked through them anyway..

I work at a credit union and we rarely deal with halfs, but a woman came in with $250 worth of half dollars that she saved from her trips to Vegas. Usually we have members use our coin counting machine to trade them in, but she took them to a teller and she saved them for me (knowing I collect coins). Most were pretty crappy but I did get 8 40% halfs and one proof coin. How desperate do you need to be to through a proof half dollar in the slots? Anyway, I plan on having the branch order me a box of halves just to see what kind of luck I have. If there is a decent return I will try to do it regularly, if not I will just see what the tellers get. I will keep you all posted!!

I ordered a box from my bank this week and was kind of bummed to find not a single silver coin.


The only positive was that I believe that when ever brinks mixed these coins they must have had a mint bag with 1994 uncirculated that they dumped into the mix. I probably have 5 to 6 rolls of them in various conditions.

I went through a $500.00 roll yesterday and found 5 40% silver and 1 50c coin from Bermuda. Not a great return, but it was a fun way to kill

I just received a box of half dollars from my credit union. The end coins look pretty beat up, but will let you know what my search uncovers. I think I am going to have my 8 year old daughter help me with this to see if it peaks her interest in collecting!!!!
