Has anyone heard of Data Dots? Could they be used to protect your collection?

I saw a story about these on TV recently and they looked really cool. I was wondering if there would be a way to use them for coins? I supposed they could be applied to slabs but that has it's limitations. Even if I can't use them on my collection I think I will use them on other things.

For those who don't know about them, they are tiny plastic identification "dots" applied in milky adhesive that dries clear.

Here's a couple of links:

  • Well I think it's pretty cool idea for twenty bucks. The only problem I see is that, if you put these on a slab they will break the coin out of the slab anyway because of the certification number. And I dont think that I would apply it to a raw coin.
