Post a cool double strike

Like real estate double strike errors are all about location. A full second date strike makes for a major doublestrike,
especially if it's struck 30 percent or better onto the original strike. And the more bizarre it makes the coin look
the better. These are tough to find on IH's.
For IH error collectors this rates as major cool.

Double strikes on Indian cents always look extra cool.
I wonder if an 1877 "double" exists, with the magical "77" showing twice? If so, please don't post it (I'd hate to wet my pants at work).
Thx, Dave
That would be a dream coin. I've thought about it a lot. Even a minor 1877 error coin would be an error collector's dream. Considering
how few were struck it's unlikely. The 1876 I posted is medium cool in comparison to other IHs but very rare when you consider the date.

I was heavy into VF-AU Indians about 15 yrs ago. What a great series. Even today, any original Indian in "the sweetspot" (1866-1877) always catches my eye. I can't say I've seen too many doubles in that era, although I have see a few off center strikes, which are also pretty damn cool. I do see many slightly off center strikes in the post-1900 era. But it would not shock me to see a double '77. A dream coin indeed!

I have to say I'm less impressed with Lincoln & Jeff errors due to the new minting process. But I love that 1999 Lincoln, very cool.

1875 Proof 3 cent nickel / Double struck in collar (reverse not doubled). Can you imagine the mint employee who missed this on a proof coin?
NOTE: No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
Type collector since 1981
Current focus 1855 date type set

Very cool.
find IH's double struck like this. Two full dates and two shields. The reverse is classic.
We are diverting off of double strikes, but brockage errors like this are the coolest of all IH error coins.
<< <i>Elwood - not a double strike but I love this IH error. >>
OOPS!! shylock...you're right
I like your (ex) obv brockage

Paul,
I got this in a Heritage Auction over a year ago. It's graded by NGC MS62 and is 55% OC. I'm wondering if it could be a 1908 S, but haven't taken the time to research it.
Do you know of a diagnostic to determine the difference between an '08 and an '08S?
and from this poor image it doesn't look like that applies. The other is very remote, a date punch that matches the 1908-S 8/8 S2
Very shallow repunching visible inside the lower loop as per Rick Snow. A minor RPD that's impossible to attribute on your image.
But I agree, it would be fun to match a double strike like this to an 08-S
