Franklin Commem pricing ?

So, I clled around and look ed at E bay and so far, The newer Frankklin Commems are at ~$60 a pop. Anybody think this will drop off soon? There is already a thread on the Buffalo commes and I do not yet see a comparison. YET.

I think the prices are more likely to rise up a bit.....

If you shopped around a bit more you could find (or could have found...) the Franklins at $50 or a bit less.

    I did.

Well, the Marine commems have stabilized around $60, and there are still a glut of
them on ebay. So, if that's any indication, then the Franklins will probably maintain
their current prices after this initial wave of sellers on ebay.

My guess is probably something like a PCGS certified Unc Founding Father would
appreciate most in value since its mintage is so low.

A bunch of them went for $45 last weekend. I've always found that ebay auctions ending the week BEFORE the end of the month will net less for the seller. It's better to list them so they end very near the end of the month or beginning of next month and it covers a weekend. That's been my experience on ebay.

I watched four close on ebay yesterday in the $49-59 range. Looks like prices may be coming down a bit.

I would bet that since there are fewer of each of the Franklin designs than the Marine that the prices will end up higher than $60 by this time next year. My guess is $80-90, maybe even $150 like the Buffalo.

Prices have dropped somewhat. I sold half of mine and just about paid for all that I purchased from the mint. I have been debating about selling the rest or holding on to them. At this point, I think I will hold on to them.

How low is the mintage on the uncirculated "franklin founding father" ?

As far as I am concerned, not low enough. The Uncs from 1996 Olympics were in the low to mid 20 thousands. That's where you can expect to see some good price increases a few years down the line.

I think the Unc founding father is at least in the 100 thousand range.

Uncirculated Founding Father mintage was 58,000 compared to 192,000 for the proof version(this includes the 50,000 held for the Legacy set) per numismatic news.

When talking about prices, you really have to be specific. I sold my uncirc and proof scientists for $49 each, but last I checked (a week ago), founding father proofs were going for $58 and uncirculated for $62. Remember, we're talking about four different coins here, each with different prices on eBay.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

I m glad you mentioned that as there are quite a few modern commems where the mintage figures have litytle if anything to do with the going value. YES, I know that someone here will remind me about demand....YES I know thats the main kick however, there are alot of very very ugly commems with low mintage figures thatwell, lets face it, just dont sell, there is no dmand. Case in point? The Shriver coin. EGAD. The UNC coins have a mintage of under 100,000 (89K) BUT the thing still sells at 25. WHY? BECAUSE ITS A DOG.

However, looking at the Buffalo Commem, each coin is at ~227,000 as to toal mintage, BUT both the UNC and Proof gor for 135 (All prices are Red Book Quotes)

SO, thats why I, IMO, am very optimistic about the Franklin dollars. FAR MORE than the Shriver coin

Whitby, I have to agree with you: Ben Franklin is better-looking than Eunice Kennedy-Shriver!
