Another Desert Shield sighting...

Just picked this beauty up on the 'bay last week...

I know it's in a BGS slab, but that's OK with me! I'd LOVE to have a PSA 10 to go with it! (HINT HINT, WINK WINK!!!)
I can't believe how well these things sell for (expecially the high-grade PSA's.) I can imagine this set, if it's not already, will be sought after and collected like the '93 Finest Refractors are. Can you image this set in an all PSA 10? GEEZ!

Just thought I'd share my recent pick-up with everyone...

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

  • I've been picking my spots on this set, looking for whatever deals I can find. The wax packs sell consistently for around $40 and the singles are very privy to bidding wars. There was a lot on Ebay of 200 cards in top loaders back a few months ago that I got sniped on--went for $305.00--and the only stars it had were a Ryan, a Ripken highlight and Eckersley.

That Sabo you got is a beauty--I've seen quite a few Desert shield singles that grade 8 for a reason.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)

Nice card. Right now there aren't any PSA 10s in the Pop Report, but if you crossed this over, you'd pick up a pretty coin for it. I follow the Desert Shields. The high grade specimens actually bring a much higher price in a PSA holder than a BGS thanks to a few furiously fanatical PSA Set Registry collectors.
  • There's a Clemens DS PSA 10 going right now - the starting bid is 2 grand though...

Yeah, the Clemens card is my favorite. There's 4 PSA 10s in the Pop, but then again 84 specimens have been submitted thus far. Sabo is very rare though. Only 7 submitted and no PSA 10s. Seriously, I know of two people who would bid like mad for this card if it got crossed over to a 10.

It'll be interesting to see if the Clemens will sell for $2K.

Ya, I've already been contacted (after the auction ended) with an offer to sell it.... and I humbly turned him down.
This baby is going in my Chris Sabo collection, and is currently one of my holy grails within that collection! I love it!
I paid $100 for it, and know it would fetch that pretty quickly as a PSA 10 if I was interested.
I don't need the $$, just looove the card! Eventually a PSA 10 WILL exist... and when it does, I will end up battling for it too!

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
