<< <i>Love the edges... if it was really perfect - it'd be in a PSA or BGS holder. >>
I really don't understant the 10. I wonder if PSA would have given this card a 10? Those edges look really rough and a little too distracting on the overall appeal of the card. I know OPC and the way they cut the card using a wire but those edges.......BGS 9.5 or BGS 9 and PSA 9 would not surprise me.. chaz
I was reacting to the value/price, but, hey, if you want to actually look at the card...the L/R borders on the Gretzky are too uneven for the card to be considered perfect IMO.
Chaz, many graders prefer the rough cut saying it adds to the authenticity of the card. I know Mike Baker feels that way (and I tend to agree). It's not the rough cut with this card as much as it is the centering. It's not quite good enough in my opinion to warrant a 10. I do think it's better than a 9.

Doesn't the psa 10 have a really rough right edge? However, I'm suprised that it pulled a 10, with the l/r centering...
Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com

I am well aware of the OPC rough cuts and how PSA grades them. I also know Mike Baker and how he grades. Left to right centering I agree does not warrant 10 status. And the price tag?????? No way. chaz
The Willie Mays rookie appears to be Dmitri Young's card (judging from the "D.Young Collection" on the flip).
That's got to be one of the very finest cards in his collection...I wonder why he's selling. Of course, at that price point, he may just be showing off, and not really looking for a buyer.
Not PSA 10 material in my opinion. Sweet card, but I don't think the centering warrants the 10. I know that there is the authenticity argument with the rough cut OPC, but in this case it detracts from the eye appeal.
Edges are fine for a PSA or GAI 10. just not the centering. though i have had cards that for one reason or another look more oc in a scan then they do in person. anyone else ever see this?

Think he's got any of his brother's rookies?
