Murphy

This is the most die shift seen in a coin since 1997, when they started making dies using the Single-Squeeze process.
Lincoln actually changes expressions from a down-curved mouth, almost a frown, to a straight mouth, almost a smile.

Very nice photos Murph.

Nice close-up photos. I thought the small differences on half dimes were most difficult for people to detect...I stand corrected!

Richard Cooper took these photos. He does excellent photography.

I have zero interest in copper coins, but have to admit this is quite interesting.

Well done.

Great discovery and images, Murphy. Make sure you submit these to CONECA, and the numismatic publications.

Thanks Pharmer, I haven't submitted them to CONECA but did submit them to John Wexler and Chuck Daughtrey. John wrote an article about them for Coin World April 10th Edition. There was also a nice editorial about them in that same issue.

One thing I wish he had explained a little more is that he says these are minor in relation to the 1955 and 1972 major doubled dies, but he should have also said that they are major in relation to doubled dies since 1995. And he did say in an email to me that the 1DO-003 caused quite a stir at Coin World.
